Changed, the minaret of the Great Mosque of West Sumatra will only be built one

Work on the construction of the West Sumatra Grand Mosque since the laying of the first stone to eight stages of work has reached Rp253.251 billion. Now, the minaret of this mosque will only be built one of the originally planned four minarets.

This was conveyed by West Sumatra Deputy Governor Nasrul Abit, in Padang, Thursday (17/11).

“The development process to date has been carried out in eight stages, of which seven stages are financed through the Regional Budget (APBD),” he said, as reported by antarasumbar.

The first seven phases total budget spent reached Rp240.751 billion and the eighth phase was financed through the receipt of special financial assistance funds from West Java and Papua Provinces amounting to Rp12.499 billion.

“The aid is used for ‘finishing’ the ground floor of the Great Mosque of West Sumatra,” he said.

He said the next plan would be carried out a comprehensive ‘design review’ of the grand mosque area by the West Sumatra Province Spatial and Settlement Road Infrastructure Office (Prasjaltarkim).

“From the coordination, there is a change, namely the tower which was originally planned to be four pieces into one piece,” he said.

Then the completion of the mikhrab on the first floor and parking area will be funded from the 2017 West Sumatra Regional Budget.
