BlackBerry Signs MoU to Keep Pentagon Security

BlackBerry announced it has signed a 1-year contract with a non-military company that provides security to the Pentagon.

The deal with the Pentagon Force Protection Agency includes internal and external warnings, emergency messages and notifications.

The Pentagon Force Protection Agency is a civilian corporation responsible for security within the Pentagon, both workers and visitors.

The company is also responsible for maintaining the safety of buildings and physical plants, including the Pentagon and other DoD buildings, where BlackBerry provides services to 37,000 Defense Department workers.

BlackBerry did not disclose the value of the contract, but said it could be renewed until 2020.

By slowly moving itself out of the handset business, where CEO John Chen plans to release two Android-powered phones this year, BlackBerry will focus on offerings like these that leverage business networks, device management tools, and company names.

Despite the fact that the deal BlackBerry made with a civilian company, it is considered strange for the Canadian company to help keep US defense icons such as the Pentagon safe.

Thumbs up, although BlackBerry is considered not so successful in the smartphone industry, it does not mean that this company has not made progress in other businesses.

BlackBerry Teken MoU Jaga Keamanan Pentagon
